Do you exactly have this error? :

md5sum mismatch install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
The Flash plugin is NOT installed.

Note that this bug is not fixed in dapper and edgy. And I just installed flashplugin-nonfree in Hardy and had no problem.
