I can confirm this bug for Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty when using ripperX to encode with flac.
I have tried adding "silent" to the options in ripperX. The result was that no crash was reported, but the flac-files were still too small and only contained a few seconds of sound each. Same result when I added "--best -V --silent"
