Well, bugs filed years ago had great ideas, but those never went anywhere and had no focus and a lot of cruft comments and maybe one or two developers driving direction. Now the can be focused with specific bug cases, which are being dealt with individually as new bugs as there is clearly a reason to fix them properly. These then are sometimes loosely tied together or duped to real bugs with patches after there is much needed progress in subset bugs.
