Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 with, presumably, the latest version of firefox. I use Gnome-PPP
from a terminal prompt at the superuser level. Once the connection is made, I start firefox, which
gives a dialog box saying the "work offline" box is checked and needs to be unchecked. When I uncheck
"work offline" my dialup connection works fine. This is an old bug, still happening.

Does network manager indicate whether you are online or offline? Firefox gets the network status from there, so if network manager says you are not connected, then Firefox is behaving as expected. There is a pref to disable this check though (network. manage- offline- status in Firefox 4, although it was called something else in Firefox 3.6)
