I switched from Safari to Mozilla because of the much better support for
Javascript. Now, all the secure sites I use work except one (it uses the
showModalDialog method). I know there are other ways to do this; however, it
might be good to look at supporting some of these non W3C or ECMA constructs.

From a user's perspective it would seem that it might be useful to track these
MS unique constructs and append those that gain traction in the world to
Mozilla. Having been involved in SW since 1968 (no comments about age), I know
that much of the what the vendors of the day (DEC, IBM, ...) added to try to
lock in their customers, eventually made it into the "standard". It's very
frustrating to have to launch IE on my Mac to use one site.
