I have a web based medical practice management system. We've used little popup windows for years to display extra information about a particular bill or procedure. The users constantly lose track of these windows and forget to close them, but since it's just information, no big deal. Now I have to produce an auxillary pop up form to supplement the information on one line of a form containing hundreds of lines. Losing track of this pop up is a big deal. If the users are distracted and bring in some other application such as email, they'll bring back the parent window and forget all about the popup. I really need it be modal or at least stay on top of the referring form. I've been giving our customers the choice of uninstalling IE7 (helper apps don't work so good), reverting back to IE6, or installing firefox. Until this is implemented, now I'll have to tell them they're stuck with IE6. Solutions involving security certificates are unworkable. It should work the same as allowing popups from a particular site.
