Patch with unit test changes from bug 544277

This patch includes the test changes from bug 544277 attachment 440226 - those are needed to keep the mochitests passing on 1.9.2 and help to verify this fix.

I've pushed this to try server, and assuming it passes, then it'll be sr+.
