I looked at the DailyMotion issue a bit. I'm seeing two problems. In one case, the media is failing to load and we fire an error event, but the custom player UI doesn't react to it, so there's no indication of a problem. In the other case, the video loads fine (and we fire canplaythrough, which the player UI uses to trigger playback), but playback never begins.
The first issue is a bug in the custom player UI. I'm not sure what the second issue is yet, so I'll keep looking...
