Perhaps we can jump-start this bug back into actionable-land if we narrow the scope... what would it take to have basic, functional BitTorrent support for downloads? Not HTML embedded content, just downloads. I think the idea of supporting HTML5 video downloads is interesting, and worth pursuing, but if we set our sights on that we might never get off the ground at all (as evidenced by this bug being 9 years old, with basically zero progress).

We would like to use this for Firefox's built-in updater over in bug 596839. It has the potential to save Mozilla a *lot* of money. My gut reaction is that this is a feature which could pay for itself, fast.

So... what kind of time investment are we talking about here?
