Dennis, what makes you say LD_LIBRARY_PATH fixes it ?

Looking at the sample `c-testcase' provided my Michael Vogt (http://librarian.launchpad.net/1547312/pymoz.c) it already uses -Wl,-rpath to set the resulting executable's library search path to include /usr/lib/firefox and nowadays the firefox-gtkmozembed pc file does the same.
