To clarify, instead of Firefox trying to make an informed decision based on the system/GTK theme, can Firefox just default to the colours specified in the Content tab in Colors and pretend that GTK doesn't exist? (only in the viewport)

the only alternative to this problem is to install extensions that allow the user to override page themes but that is ultimately messy and can also break things in unexpected ways.
