Did a little more testing, reproducible on a WinXP-home-sp2 (2.8Ghz, 1GB) system
and debian-sarge 1 GHz, 256MB.

The Gecko hang happens exactly after the tab gets opend and starts the rotating
mini icon, but just before the gray background get its first layout rendered.
Could be a hang in CSS layout?
It is not history or font related as I ruled that out.
Again, the short tab/window-freeze is annoying but not as annoying that the
_entire_ application is frozen.

The problem could not be easily reproduced on my office system: WinXP-Pro-sp1,
Laptop 1.6 Pent-M, 1GB. I do get a short (less than 1 second) hang on complex
pages (e.g. http://www.unika.com.cn/) but not the 3-10 second hangs I regularly
get at home.

So the problem still asserts itself but not to the same "very-annoying" wait
time as I get on my system at home. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
 Duncan

PPS: suggest changing OS from "Linux" to "All"
