I can verify that firefox snap doesn't work on 24.04 either with home directory on nfs.

Workaround:
* uninstall firefox snap
* uninstall the apt firefox which is a wrapper around the snap one
* follow the Mozilla instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
* To work around https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1999308
  add the following lines to the priority lines in the Mozilla instructions
Package: firefox*
Pin: release o=Ubuntu*
Pin-Priority: -1
