Comment 6 for bug 172419

I have the same problem, see this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=590242.

The problem seems to be related to Compiz, which even runs on a vanilla install when no desktop effects are enabled. Pushing Alt+F2 and issuing the command "metacity --replace" makes the problems go away on my machine.
