Ubuntu builds use "--enable-alsa" and this will correct things, at least till that code disappears from the tree?????

If not then remove it from the default install, use IceWeasel if it includes ALSA, or move to Pale Moon...

Really just remove firefox... Why do you need 5.1 sound from a BROWSER!????!!!?? If you need 5.1 sound from something then some actual media player software is more applicable...
