Hi Chris. Unless I am mistaken, recent Ubuntu versions seem to default to gstreamer 1.0 by default. Although gstreamer 0.10 is also installed in parallel, the different gstreamer versions are not parallel linkable. Firefox currently has support for using the system gstreamer 0.10 for H.264 HTML5 video playback, but not for using the system gstreamer 1.0 for H.264 HTML5 video playback.
