<email address hidden>: have you zoomed that scalzi page? How's performance at the default zoom level (cmd-0)?
I suspect the scalzi site slowed down because it has a large tiled background image, and we changed our tiled image drawing to go through a temporary surface in some cases to avoid artifacts when zooming. But that should only happen when zooming is happening.
