correction on 2nd: the panel icon technically disappeared, but the reason for that is that the initial firefox-3.0-branding package comes from karmic which shipped a legacy .desktop file called firefox-3.0.desktop. verified that the .desktop file in jaunty firefox-3.0-branding is called firefox.desktop, which is the same as the firefox.desktop shipped by firefox-3.5-branding in karmic. So the upgrade should take over panel additions properly.
