Exactly - I don't understand why this is such a difficult fix. The problem is that firefox is overwriting MY choice of case, either when I type it by hand, or when I select it from the drop-down list of completion choices firefox presents me (even more bizarre!). Match case FIRST, then if that fails (and ONLY if that fails) look for a case-insensitive option to complete. Not too hard to do, and solves both bugs.
