Testing this with current nightly builds, I get inconsistent results:
1. if I misspell a word, don't hit SpaceBar after that, and go back, neither Shift+F10 nor pressing the Applications key will display a list of sufggestions. Note that I purposely chose a word like tessting that definitely yields results.
2. However, if I press Space after the misspelled word, then arrow back onto the word, both Shift+F10 and Applications bring up a list of suggested replacement words.
Aaron, if I misspell something and don't hit Space, is it then already marked as misspelled? The a11y attribute change for misspelling is not fired until hitting Space.
