Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Hi,
When using google maps, the maps themselves, in both maps, and satellite mode do not display. Street view works okay, however not the maps not the satellite images. Sometimes when searching the maps will display for the whole of Australia, however the location will be in a totally incorrect area. Microsoft internet explorer works okay, as does google chrome, however i am using Ubuntu.

"150 W University Blvd, melbourne, FL" works fine for me.
Did you try safe-mode or a new profile?

It doesn't work for me too with 3.0 RC2

Google maps haven't worked for me on 3.0 or 3.0.1. The fault is exactly the same as described above and is not restricted to any particular search phrase - no searches work.

This fault is consistently reproducible and I do not have the fault with any other browsers.

I'm currently using Firefox version 3.0.1 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1)

This stopped working for me AFTER I installed Firefox 3.0.1.

All I get now is a GREY screen, where I would see the map before.

This problem is now exhibited after the latest FF2 update -- damn!!
I updated FF2 a few hours ago -- funny, I'm now at 2.0.0.18 but IIRC, I was previously at 2.0.0.18 -- and now Google Maps does not display maps.
I get this: "Still loading... Slow? Try Basic HTML".
I do not get an hourglass.
Status bar shows "Done".
Displays gray block where the map should be.
OS is XP-SP2.
Let me emphasize.
I'm NOT running FF3.
I'm running FF2, latest update -- it is broken!!
(Damn, I wish there was a way to go back to previous before the latest update.)

I had the same problem, both in Firefox 2 and 3:

Google Maps showed only the first map. After zooming the map disappears and all is gray. Not even street view works.

I found out that the file prefs.js was causing the problem for some reason. Just renaming it solved the problem, but of course you also lose all your preference settings.

So I copied the file and started deleting lines that seemed less important, and it now
works. I did not care to find out exactly the offending line, but it should be easy to do that by splitting the file in (say) 10 line chunks or something like that

Also noted, most video sites will not play , with the exception of youtube.

This bug report is NOT related to the above bug. I am getting this bug with x86 Windows 2000 with both Firefox3 and Seamonkey2 (beta). Google maps refuses to display any maps, even with Javascript fully enabled. It works fine in IE6.

I still experience this problem. It happens in firefox with a myriad of addons installed, but not in a fresh version. I google an address and then it shows the map just fine, but if I try to drag it around or zoom in/out, the map turns into a square of gray.

I deleted my preferences and this problem was fixed. Kind of an annoying way to fix it, but relatively painless. I disabled all my extensions first, one by one, to see if this was the cause, too. No joy.
