Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When starting firefox, it will delay for (on timed average) 3 minutes. When it loads, it is responsive until user attempts to use firefox; change URL, click on homepage link, etc. The delay is slightly less than 3 minutes. Many attempts to reinstall, uninstall and install, and firefox deletions have not fixed this issue. I have also tried using the binary provided by getfirefox.com.

Here are the specs to my desktop where issue occurs:
Linux 2.6.24-21-generic running KDE 3.5.9, CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz at 3216 MHz (6432 bogomips), HD: 722/1232GB, RAM: 2472/3035MB.
This does not happen on my two other laptops (HP and Dell).
All 3 running Kubuntu 8.04 with all updates applied.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

I am now using 8.10 and do not have this issue. I think I may have just had an issue with plug-ins because I stripped everything away and was able to have firefox running for me; this was still on 8.04. I'm not sure which one as they would all install, but not run firefox thereafter. Once I upgraded to 8.10, firefox would run and accept all of the plug-ins. Everything seems to be running smoothly.

Here are the installed plug-ins:

Adobe Reader 8.0
Default Plugin
Demo Print Program for Unix/Linux
DivX Browser Plug-in
Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-in Compatible
Java (TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_10-b33
Kaffeine Starter Plugin
mplayerPlug-in 3.55
OpenOffice.Org Plug-in
QuickTime Plug-in 7.4.5
RealPlayer 9
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r15
Windows Media Player Plug-in

Add-ons that also installed and failed:

Dictionary 2.1.4
DownThemAll 1.1.0
Firebug 1.3.0
Firecookie 0.7
FireFTP 1.0.3
NoScript 1.8.9.2
OpenBook 2.0.1.1
Speed Dial 0.7.2.10

Hope this helps troubleshoot the issue for anyone else. This is no longer an issue for me and I'm sorry for not closing the bug report.
