Same here, on Gentoo with xfce4, does not seem to be a distribution related bug.
What I found out:
You CAN paste from evolution to firefox in SOME text boxes (like the one I'm writing this reply), vbulletin forums, e107 forums, etc.
You CAN'T paste from evolution to firefox in text boxes like gmail (the email body text filed), you are able however to paste in the "to" and "subject" fields.
Seems to me like a firefox bug. :) Not sure though.
