This seems to be similar to bug 191889. Could you check if the workaround there works for you? The workarounds are at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/191889/comments/157 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/191889/comments/161
