Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Installed version of firefox is 3beta5. I've installed the packet Firefox-3.0(version 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3) via kubuntu adept packet manager.
Had the same issue on both Gutsy (7.10) and Hardy (8.04).

Opening file extensions, for instance .torrent, in Firefox 3 opens wrong default application (in my case for .torrent = Ark).

Changing in Kubuntu's system settings for "default applications - file extensions" won't help. The issue seems to be limited to Firefox.
Inside Firefox you're suppose to change this via Edit -> Preferences -> Applications tab. Under content type and action the list is empty.

The solution that worked for me was to install the packet: firefox-3.0-gnome-support (version 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3)

Dupe of master bug that tracks lack of KDE integration.
