Binary package hint: firefox
I will be in Firefox, then I'll open a new window or tab with ctrl+n or ctrl+t, and I cannot type in the address bar or any place in the browser. It seems like a freeze, but I am able to open up tabs and highlight text with the mouse. A similar thing happens in Pidgin. I'm in a given conversation window then I switch to the buddy list with alt+tab, go back to the conversation window, and I cannot enter text with my keyboard. But If I do that again, then I am able to type in it again. This is frustrating. It happens on all three of my machines, an Athlon XP, an Athlon64 (32-bit system though), and my IBM Thinkpad T60. I couldn't find anything similar. And I haven't found people with similar experiences. To get the effect in in Firefox, you might have to open new windows more than a few times. My system is update to date.
