I think you missed the part where I explained how it's not a viable alternative.

The problem manifested in the first release where Desktop Effects were included. It was fixed temporarily in 9.04 with a script that ran when a client connected that automatically disabled desktop effects, then re-enabled them upon disconnect. But in 9.1 someone forgot to include that workaround and since then the problem has existed in every release.
So going back to 10.04 is not a solution on the one hand in a world that doesn't exist where going back to a previous release of an operating system is a viable option to restore the functionality of an important feature; on the other, it's not a viable option because it doesn't fix the problem.
I don't see what you stand to gain by discounting my bug report but I don't see it as productive.
