As a side note, I have been looking for an alternative to this (I connect remotely a lot so I need for this to 'work') and found this solution:
I installed the software from http://www.nomachine.com and it actually works perfectly fast!! but it only seems to connect and gives the classic GNOME (this i what I am using) as the desktop once connected even thou you have the Unity desktop, it works kind of Remote Desktop for Windows. This software is free.
This one seems like a good alternative until Vino gets fixed.
