Bug Description
Tried to install fglrx a couple of days ago using, terminal, synaptic and software center. No method worked. Msg. was 'Failed to install package'
Today, package fglrx showed up in update manager and wouldn't install but apport generated this crash report.
Reason for trying to install: using the non-proprietary driver for ATI radeon xpress 200m; laggy screen render at times, random system freezes (screen will display a series of white and green lines, system completely hung), 3d hardware acceleration would be nice.

There are a couple of problems. ATI dropped proprietary support for your card 2 years ago in Catalyst 9-4. Also, Catalyst currently doesn't install on Ubuntu 11.04 ( Launchpad bug 709505 )
Make sure you completely purge fglrx: http:// wiki.cchtml. com/index. php/Ubuntu_ Maverick_ Installation_ Guide#Removing_ Catalyst. 2Ffglrx
