Bug Description
Binary package hint: fglrx-amdcccle
Installing the driver via synaptic DOES NOT start the config of xorg, or give any message that it should. Itself its not a problem, but when you have:
*removed the fully bloated preinstalled desktop enviroment
*xfix has skullbashed your xorg
*Just running cli since xorg cannot start
I do think it should ask if you want to configure it or not.
Version: all versions of the propitary ATI driver
Confirmed this is still an issue (ran into it myself testing the new driver), however solving it is not quite so trivial. This is one of the reasons Jockey is provided for installing these drivers. But I'll leave the bug open as a wishlist for making it possible to install the drivers using just the debs alone.
(Probably the way to do it would be to make xorg-server detect and autoconfigure the things that jockey is doing via xorg.conf)
