DefaultPlymouth is my own Plymouth theme built from the official ubuntu-logo theme and a slightly modified to use the picture Precise_Pangolin_by_Vlad_Gerasimov.jpg converted to a png file.

Regarding fglrx, I use a proprietary package from ATI as I need to use accelerated 3D which is not fully working with the open-source one unfortunately. (I built and installed a deb package from ATI fglrx_12.104)
Don't worry about ping-pong. There is no problem at all: it is perfectly understandable with such a number of interacts ;)
