I think this is due to the switcher buttons. I am using 10.10/Maverick on Acer AspireOne and found this workaround -

Click on View -> Switcher Appearance. Disable "Show Buttons". The window will stop jumping :)

You can use the Alt-V, S, B, B <Enter> combination if your window is already jumping and you don't feel like restarting Evolution.
