Fresh install of Jaunty (9.04) And I had this problem. I have 6 gmail accounts (some of them google-app accounts on different domains) and the phantom folder showed up on 4 of them.
However I no longer have the issue.
I deleted ~/.evolution
And when I started evolution again, it simply re-downloaded all of my mail and the null-named folders were gone on all accounts.
I should also mention that the issue showed up after trying to rsync my home folder on 2 computers.
