most people voting for the bug know how to install the certificate and, i guess, already did so.
in my opinion, this bug exists for two purposes:
- launch the process of certificate inclusion (i don't know what the sequence of events was exactly, maybe cacert was already in contact w/ the mozilla foundation before this bug was filed. by the way, is there any official document showing the status of negotiations?)
- underline the importance of cacert as an organization providing affordable secure communication for whomever needs such, by active participation of users in the progress and their votes for this bug.
in case the mozilla policies concerning trustworthy authorities will ever need re-thinking (which could be the case if no satisfactory agreement can be found with cacert), this discussion could also provide an initial discussion base (think of kodespace's suggestion)
