To get my exchange working I did the following:

1. Add exchange.conf to /etc/ld.so.conf.d contents are:
/usr/lib/evolution/2.8/

2. sudo ldconfig

3. In evolution, Edit->Plugins->Exchange Operations was enabled.

Works fine now in edgy.
