@buster - If you find annoying manually killing your evolution data server, let a cronjob do it for you. From your console type "crontab -e" and assign say every 15 minutes a "killall -9 evolution-data-server" command. Check the exact command to kill, as I am not on Jounty and therefore I can't check myself if it's only "evolution-data-server" or if there is a version number after it.
