Bug Description

it is not possible to print on epson printers with ubuntu 16.04. /opt/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr/cups/lib/filter/epson-scpr-wrapper links against /lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3. however this file is not installed on the system. as a workaround "ln -s /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3" solved the issue for me.

I have a Epson TX420W, installed the epson-inkjet-printer-nx420_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb package in the Ubuntu 16.04 64bits and the printer did not work as before. The workaround described by Nicolas Knotzer solved the problem for me.

I can confirm this bug for a Epson WF-3250 by using epson-inkjet-printer-201212w package under Ubuntu GNOME 16.04. The workaround works for me, too.

I have the same issue on Kubuntu 16.04 with a Epson M105 and a L110. Workaround did not help.

I followed instructions here: https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=21501434 (it is in french still pretty easy to understand), I was able to install both printer drivers and it all fine, but still do not print.

I can confirm this bug with Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 trying to add an Epson WF-3620. Forcing an install and "ln -s /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3" allows me to print, though it prints very lightly.

As a contrast, Fedora 23 out of the box installs drivers properly, and printing is normal, not light.

For reference: Testing with an Epson WF-3620 on the local network.

Kubuntu 16.04.1 - Proper installation, fully updated:

Installed printer-driver-escpr using apt (universe repository enabled), then added the printer using the printer installation wizard (DNS-SD, "Epson/EPSON WF-3620 Series ..." in printer selection).
-> Printing a test page works*.
Side note: I had installed the driver from manually-downloaded .debs before (for 15.10 and earlier), but completely wiped / during the installation of 16.04.1.

Xubuntu 16.04.1 - Live system (no updates, no package DB update) in VirtualBox:

Installed the printer using the printer installation wizard, selecting "epson-escpr" as driver.
According to /var/log/apt/history.log, epson-inkjet-printer-escpr and dependencies got installed.
-> Printing a test page and one page of a PDF (via Firefox) works*.
The universe repository was enabled by default.

Ubuntu 16.04.1 - Live system (no updates, no package DB update at first) in VirtualBox:

The printer installation wizard allegedly installed epson-inkjet-printer-escpr.
The printer model had to be selected manually, but I couldn't find it in the printer database; thus I canceled the wizard. Looking at apt's log, the driver had not been installed.
Trying to install epson-inkjet-printer-escpr manually (after sudo apt update) fails with dependency issues.
-> But: After enabling the universe repository (and sudo apt update), installing the printer works just as in Xubuntu. Printing a test page works, too*.

Kubuntu 16.04.1 - Live system (no updates, no package DB update) in VirtualBox:

The printer installation wizard shows the printer, but not via DNS-SD; thus I canceled the wizard.
I didn't investigate further why it doesn't work in the live system in contrast to the installed one.

* Set "Media Type" in the printer's options to "plain papers-Standard-Vivid" or "plain papers-High" to get proper, dark colors.

Okay, I agree with the above statement. Sometimes the error may occur due to the printer's internal hardware. When Epson-inkjet-printer-escape not working issue appears, it generally cause your printer to be suddenly Off and stops printing. Therefore, I would like to advise to try some quick fixes from this link [url=
https://errorcode0x.com/fix-epson-printer-error-code-0x9d/ ]Epson Printer Error Code 0x9d
[/url]. In case you won't able to fix on your own. Depending on your warranty, it will be better to get them to repair shop to repair the printer.

I totally agree with the viewpoint presented. I own a printer Epson WF 3640 ADF. It was working fine for 2 years. However for a month or two whenever I am going ahead and making it ready to print, it is displaying out the error code 0x69. I connected with the technical helpdesk and followed the steps as suggested

Please suggest if anything I have missed out. If not what to do next?
