Hi Hussein and Omer,

Could you please specify which gstreamer package you installed?

Ubuntu Software Centre shows a long list of gstreamer packages, including 100 technical items. I have installed most of the technical items except those ending in '-doc' but I still can't get Empathy to connect to a video call with Windows Live Messenger.

I am using:
a) Ubuntu Maverick 10.10
b) Empathy 2.32.1

My friend's laptop is using:
a) Windows Live Messenger 2011 (Build 15.4.3508.1109)

Problems encountered:
1. Windows Live Messenger (WLM) can initiate a video call with Empathy, which results in Empathy 'ringing' and allowing me to Answer or Reject the call. When I push Answer, I receive the error message that indicates there is no intersection between the codecs on each system.

2. Empathy cannot initiate a call to WLM, as the 'Video Call' (and 'Audio Call') actions are disabled, i.e. greyed out. There is no indicator in my buddy list to show the WLM contact has audio or video, even though they do.

Could the updated WLM 2011 be the problem? I have another MSN contact in my list who uses Trillian and they correctly show in my buddy list with an audio icon.

Thanks,
Brian.
