Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

When I start Empathy a black box pops up telling me that "Subscription requested by <a friend of mine>@gmail.com".

I have been unable to find any way of accepting the request.

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

This is actually an issue introduced by ubuntu's libindicator patch.
The current way to hack your way arround the problem is to disactivate the support for the Indicator in empathy's preferences

The authorization requests appear in the messaging menu, just like an IM does. You have to click on that to get the Approve/Reject dialog. Currently there is a problem with those dialogs getting raised properly though, they stay below the current window. This can make it appear as if selecting the authorization request in the messaging menu does nothing.

This isn't really a dupe of that, we should probably distinguish authorization requests from login and message events. We will keep it on the radar for Lucid.

if we disable the indicator what about indications we want or real indications?
