Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
With the version of Empathy in Ubuntu Karmic, it is now listed in the message indicator applet. Clicking on Empathy Instant Messenger from there causes the main window to appear, but unfocused (and beneath the active window) by default. This is absolutely unnecessary. If the user chooses it from the menu, he probably wants it and doesn't appreciate needing to move the mouse to the other edge of the screen to raise it.
I am using Metacity, and this bug did not occur at all with Empathy's previous behaviour (without the indicator applet).
There seems to be some inconsistency in whether this happens or Empathy is, in fact, raised. However, I have not tracked down a pattern.
I also observed this issue with Pidgin.
