I used ubuntu and i would like call h323: 00361002081 and test 003610030999
ekiga nothing work no video, no sound ...etc

Hi,

What is this number "h323: 00361002081" ? Is it a landline phone? If you use h323, you must register ekiga to an h323 provider. Default providers in Ekiga (ekiga.net and diamond card for call out do not work with h323) are SIP only providers.

I register hungarian free getkeaper it is " fz-gd.vidkonf.niif.hu " an number 0036900 xxxx
and I cal ELTE UNIVERSITY polycom videoconerce sytem it is number ( GDS ) 00361002081 or hungarian test number (GDS number ) 0036100309999
and ekiga ansvwer "Getkeaper clear your call " anad close ekiga .
It is interesting because Ekiga 2... is vork, but not send video..

Could you try to add the registrar to the address, i.e. you call h323:<email address hidden> (if I'm right with the registrar name) ?

It seems Ekiga try to register using the SIP protocol. You should use H323 instead;

Remove the entry for fz-gd.vidkonf.niif.hu:
go to Edit->Accounts , right click on the account and remove it.

Create an H.323 account:
go to Edit->Accounts->Accounts (the top menu in the new window) -> Add an H.323 account

I made lotof h323 registar it is ok everything !!! ekiga write messagews h323 registerd and I call h323:001002081 or other number is ( the geatkeeor cler th call... I check debug i wrote the ekiga dont work h323 only call sip.
My university video konferece work only h323 because all hungary University wor only h323..

In Ekiga main window,
go to Edit->Accounts

In the new window,
Right click on the fz-gd.vidkonf.niif.hu account, select "Edit"

In the new window, what is the name of the 2nd field? "Registrar" or "gatekeeper"?

Same problem with me:

* Gatekeeper: 198.129.252.168 (Energy Sciences Network (ESnet))
* Calling number: h323:8894@198.129.252.168 (MCU unit, MCU3.es.net)

ekiga -d -5 doesn't give any reasonable information:

At start, I see a message in status line, that ekiga has successfully registered with the gatekeeper. But when I try to place a call, I get "Gatekeeper cleared the call". Also, when I try to call my PC from other H323 device on same gatekeeper, I get a message that the specified number is not registered.

The PC is connected directly to the Internet. If you need more information, feel free to ask.

You need to close ekiga first, then you can start it using:
ekiga -d 4

You're not using Ekiga from Ubuntu:
"ekiga Version 3.0.1".

Please upgrade to 3.2.0 from Ubuntu Jaunty and see if it fix the issue.

The old upstream bug (592363) is duplicate of this bug.

And, I also confirm this problem with Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 5, using Ekiga from repos.

Workaround:
Use the Command Line (Terminal), and Start ekiga with:
ekiga -c h323:user@h323_server

I added a small comment upstream. It might take some time before upstream investigate it further as we are dealing with some other bugs too and we have limited resources.
