For what it's worth, I'm still not able to burn dual-layer DVDs in Hardy even though I'm using a kernel from Intrepid.

uname -a gives:
Linux hydra 2.6.26-6-server #4 SMP Thu Aug 7 15:52:39 EDT 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Furthermore, after a failure, my drive has now stopped detecting inserted media
