@Dabo Ross: Your problem seems to be different from this one, so a new bug report is a good idea.

Btw: Please refrain from exaggerating "a symlink set for ~/.cache/deja-dup gets deleted" to "deletion of symbolic links", because the handling of ~/.cache/deja-dup is a bit special (unless you see deletion of other symlinks as well).
