Bug Description

At first I thought this was an error with the LibreOffice daily builds, but then I went back a ways in "daily builds" and got the same problem, so think it might be the result of a change to dpkg.
Anyway, the bug is also reported to the LibreOffice folks, at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41290

Basically, when I install a LO daily build, the message is as follows:
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libo-dev3.5-dict-en_3.5.0-1_amd64.deb
 libo-dev3.5-dict-es_3.5.0-1_amd64.deb
 libo-dev3.5-dict-fr_3.5.0-1_amd64.deb

Then on my next boot the apt-daemon crashes because it says packages have not installed properly.

This is more of a problem than it looks because the Ubuntu apt daemon can't deal with it and crashes.

Seems to be Linux due to report.
@Susan Cragin
Please check your LibO version selection(Looks like "Libo-Master") and contribute a complete build identifier.

I have been getting builds from

This is the one I tried today.

I have tried all of them, I think, within the past week.
All report the same problem with installation.

I use Ubuntu 64-bit oneiric with all current updates.

You should provide the error messages that appear before this. This
is only a summary of the failures, and we need to see the exact error
message. You might be able to to find a more complete log
in /var/log/apt/.

At this point, it seems unlikely to be a bug in dpkg.

Looks like you are trying to install extensions before libreoffice itself and thus registering the extension in libreoffice fails (as it is not there yet).

That may be. All I do is navigate to the DEB file and then the only command I give is as follows;
sudo dpkg -i l*.deb

So I confirm it's not a bug in dpkg, it's the libreoffice package whose postrm script are failing. But the error message mentions files in /opt/ so it's not an official ubuntu package and there's probably not much that we can do.

Reassigning to libreoffice anyway. Maybe it's a bug in unopkg.

Susan Cragin, this is:
- a clearcut upstream issue
- wont be fixed in libreoffice packaging
Resolving as WONTFIX in libreoffice packaging. This does not mean the issue will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even by Ubuntu/Canonical contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

Libreoffice (Ubuntu) => WONTFIX

Created attachment 51998
installation log for DEBS without Dictionaries, and then dictionaries separately

I tried removing the dictionaries from the DEBS file and then installing. That worked without error (see attached).
I put the dictionaries in another folder DICTS and then tried force-installing them.
It did not work, showing the same errors as before.
So maybe the install order is not the problem.
