@Phillip: fscking the ESP (and all other partitions) returns no warning nor error:

# fsck -fyM /dev/sda2
fsck from util-linux 2.20.1
WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sda'! The util fdisk doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted.

and the Input/Output error remains after the fsck.
