From a clean ubuntu 7.10 install, do :

aptitude install docbook2odf

try to start it, it crashes at line 33 complaining of package Image:Magick missing.

Workarounds :
 - comment this line 33 if you do not need any image conversion
 - manualy do aptitude install perlmagick
