Bug Description

Dear all,

Disk-Manager is a GUI to manage fstab.
It has very useful features, for example it can allow automount a data partition at login.
Website: https://launchpad.net/disk-manager
Code: https://launchpad.net/disk-manager/+download

It is available in Debian repositories: http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=disk-manager

It should be added to Ubuntu repositories.

As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

disk-manager is in the Ubuntu archive sync blacklist as a fix for bug 333596. You'll probably want to talk to Steve Langasek if you think the issues that led to its removal no longer apply. I'm setting this bug to incomplete waiting for a follow up about whether this is wanted in Ubuntu.

disk-manager # vorlon, unmaintained and frequently crashes

Thanks Jeremy.
I subscribed Steve to this bug.

I think Disk-Manager should not be black-listed any more. It has been updated until recently (2011), works with all supported Ubuntu versions, handles UUIDs, and works with no major problem.

And above all: please remove Pysdm from Ubuntu repositories (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pysdm/+bug/1005279).

Currently, Ubuntu users who search for a GUI managing fstab in Ubuntu Software Center find Pysdm, which brings problems to them (and we have to help them on forums), when Disk-Manager would have done the work with no problem. We confirm this frequently since 10.04 on ubuntu-fr forums (eg http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=660061 , http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=442304 , http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=920961 , http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=403792 ...), but i guess this can also be checked in ubuntuforums.org.

I removed the package and blacklisted it on request of an Ubuntu developer. If an Ubuntu developer says that the blacklist entry should be removed, the archive admins will certainly do so, but I'm not volunteering to be the Ubuntu developer to look into this. :)

I've noticed, that disk-manager sources in https://code.launchpad.net/debian/+source/disk-manager are not updated from Debian since 2011 May :(
It would be nice to see up to date sources, then we can use packaging recipes to create packages for Ubuntu in PPAs.
