I guess the kernel picks up the rtc (and consider it UTC) when it boots? And that's why all timestamps made before hwclock is run are wrong (when rtc is running localtime)?

There should be something like a, for instance, "rtc=UTC+2" kernel option, to get the time correct from the start.
