Bug Description
Binary package hint: debian-installer
After completing a network installation with Ubuntu 11.04 beta 2, the system fails to boot.
Only a blinking cursor is shown.
No errors are shown during installation.
After an installation with with the normal server CD, the system boots fine.
Test "system": VMware ESXi 3.5 virtual machine
Netinstall kernel and initrd used:
==
#!gpxe
kernel http://
initrd http://
boot
==
Tested with and without kickstart file, same result.
Hmm, I do get visual when I press "alt" + "arrow right" to switch to tty2.
So Linux does boot, it's just the console that is screwed up.
If I then login and do:
vi /etc/default/grub
-> remove the "splash" kernel option
update-grub
The problem goes away.
Only occurs on systems installed with the netboot version, server CD version works fine without this modification.
