2009-11-15 21:42:31 DenisM description Binary package hint: debian-installer Two 750GB SATA disks joined into RAID1 array, which divided into 4 partitions: 1. pri NTFS WinXP (100G) 2. pri NTFS Userdata (240G) 3. pri efs4 / (55G) 4. log 5. ext swap (7.5G) 6. ext efs4 /home (295G) I want to setup a dual-boot system. An installation process stops at GRUB. I can try to setup GRUB again and again, no luck. If I chose to continue without boot loader, I get the following message: "No boot loader has been installed, either because you chose not to or because your specific architecture doesn't support a boot loader yet. You will need to boot manually with the /vmlinuz kernel on partition /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 and root=/dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 passed as a kernel argument." In syslog I see that WinXP partition discovered successfully but the / one didn't: 20microsoft: debug: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid11 is a NTFS partition 20microsoft: result: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid11:Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition RU:Windows:chain 50mounted-tests: debug: os found by subtest /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/20microsoft ... os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/10freedos on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 10freedos: debug: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 is not a FAT partition: exiting os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/10qnx on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 10qnx: debug: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 is not a QNX4 partition: exiting os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/20macosx on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 macosx-prober: debug: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 is not an HFS+ partition: exiting os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/20microsoft on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 20microsoft: debug: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 is not a MS partition: exiting os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/30utility on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 30utility: debug: /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 is not a FAT partition: exiting os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/40lsb on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/70hurd on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/80minix on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/90linux-distro on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 os-prober: debug: running /usr/lib/os-probes/mounted/90solaris on mounted /dev/mapper/isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13 ... main-menu[483]: (process:31864): Volume group "isw_bdgibehedh_Raid13" not found I'll test if 9.04 has the issue too ASAP.
